In the countries where we work Columban Fathers work in cooperation with Columban Sisters from a standpoint of solidarity with the poor and integrity of creation.
The Missionary Sisters of St Columban gathered in St Patrick’s Church, Wicklow on Sunday 29th September 2024 to mark the centenary of the establishment as a congregation. The Centenary theme was: ‘Celebrating the Journey’, a journey of 100 years of “God’s faithfulness to us as a Congregation,” Sr Anne told the congregation of Columban Sisters, priests, co-workers, friends, supporters and representatives of other congregations and the Association of Religious and Missionaries of Ireland (AMRI). Since the foundation began, Columban Sisters were first called to establish and manage institutions serving Educational and Medical needs. In the late 70s, the foundation moved towards less structured ministries, meeting a wider variety of needs for the poor and marginalised. As Catholic missionary religious women, Columban Sisters give expression to their commitment to the mission of Christ in the world through a variety of ministries and services by focusing on:
- Education and Health Services
- Empowering People through communicating Gospel Values.

- Issues related to women and children, including Human Rights
- Promoting Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation
- Dialogue with people of other faiths and cultures
- Cross-Cultural Mission
The Missionary Sisters of St Columban elected a new congregational team at their General Assembly in Knock, Co Mayo, Ireland. The new Congregational Leader is Sr Anne Carbon from the Philippines. The leadership team is Sr Margaret Murphy, Sr Josephine Hong and Sr Cho Young Mi who were elected on 25th April 2023.
