Columban Mission AppealAs a Columban donor, you play a vital role in bringing Christ to people living on the margins of society in some of the poorest countries on earth. The world can be a cold, dark and unwelcoming place. Together we can warm it and brighten it with the light of Christ. Since the arrival of the Columbans in Fiji in 1952, we were able to set up parishes, primary and secondary schools and fund many Archdiocesan Projects through the support of our overseas benefactors.

Columban Fr Enrique Escobar reports the economic hardship and declining household values among the people in the Province of Misamis Oriental, Mindanao, Southern Philippines, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and severe flooding in 2022. Domestic abuse and financial concerns have taken a toll on women and children, resulting in tragedies such as suicide.

IN RESPONSE, the Columbans in the Philippines have been providing support by offering sewing livelihood programs for women, establishing community vegetable gardens, and feeding malnourished children. Furthermore, training in environmental awareness and the rights of persons with disabilities have also been conducted.
