October 21st 2023

The Yean Shim House was abuzz on Saturday 12st October as young men and woman arrived, responding to the flyer that was sent out in the social media and those that I invited.

This time there was a change as we saw a 10 young man and 4 young women, where usually it was always young woman who come to the event. The day started with the Eucharistic Celebration by Fr Felisiano. |The session began with sharing hopes, fears and expectations, self-introductions through words and art and with reflections from the bible verse John 1:35-39.

A reflection of Gods calling to come and see, and answering that silent call. One of our participants is a SDA youth who shared that she came because she wanted the Lord to show her the directions of her life. We also had the presence of Deacon Iowane Naio who shared his journey as a seminarian.

It was a lovely experience and a blessing to listen to these youths’ stories of life, faith and struggles, as they seek purpose in life, a sense of belonging, opportunities for service and coming to see the life of the Columban Lay Mission.

I thank the Lord for using us the team as his instruments in journeying with these sacred souls who open their hearts to us, especially those who are discerning.

The day ended with a lovely lunch prepared by a teamwork of Elizabeth (Staff of the region) and a participant mum who accompanied her that day.
