Oceania Columban Regional Meeting

Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.   4th – 5th May 2022.

This was a historic and a great event as the Columban Fathers, Lay Missionaries, Co Workers came together as a family to discuss ways in which we can grow and keep doing the work of Mission given the Challenges and Opportunities that we must respond to and be open to the work of the Holy Spirit as He Guides as into this new Era.

This was also the beginning of our “Columban Synod” as we try to Listen, Discern and follow the call of God through the different voices of individuals contributing towards this important process.

“EVEN SILENCE IS A LANGUAGE THAT BRINGS IMPORTANT MESSAGES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE STILL HAVE YET TO LEARN HOW TO LISTEN.”

Responding to proposed new Governance Structure.

Time Line for Synod.

“A new way I shall make for you – says the Lord.”

Sometime Change is an exhaustive process. Important and uncomfortable questions have to be asked. Resources and time has to be allocated.  And we must be willing to accept change itself.

Letting go and let God takes Faith and Courage and I believe the Oceania region through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit with the patronage of St Columban under the leadership of the Columban Fathers are already navigating the waves and winds of our new Oceania voyage.
