Season of Creation 2020

Season of Creation - 2020We are now in the season of creation. We would like to share with you the compiled kit, which may be helpful in your own ministries and in the parishes. The kit is compiled using the varied resources such as the Global Catholic Climate Movement, National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Programs, Catholic Climate Covenant, Eucharist and Laudato Si’ (Charles Rue, SSC) etc. We also have compiled an Eco 7 Steps Bible Sharing to make suggestions or give alternative ways to integrate the message of the season.

This year, we will celebrate Season of Creation while guided by the theme “Jubilee for the Earth”.  In general, we are called to reflect on our ecological sins and be moved to act to care and protect our common home with urgency.

Call in the Pacific

Here in the Pacific, it is said that life came forth from the ocean. This is true as witnessed by the people have thrived through its abundance. But the ocean is never exempted from the violation of man’s consumerist ideal. For years, it has become the dumping site of all sorts of rubbish. As the years go by it becomes warmer.

Fisherfolks have cried that they no longer have the catch that provide for their family and their community, and soon the world. The ocean is gradually dying and it is letting us know. So as people of the ocean, may we respond to this call with urgency and panic. If not, there will be no more ocean life for us to pass on to the generations to come. Ocean biodiversity is just as important as land biodiversity. If this gets more out of balance, it will affect Earth’s ability to sustain life to all that lives in it.
