Our Fiji COP 26

" We are one with Nature, Nature is us, our Vanua and our Ocean." In Solidarity, Consultation, Participation, Collaboration and Inclusivity are key components of addressing the Climate Crisis we are facing. That was the theme of our 2 days’ workshop at St. Josephs Secondary School. The workshop, organized by Pacific Council of Churches, Fiji Council of Churches and Transcend Oceania. There were issues raised on Environmental Injustice caused by Extractions, and responding to the Cries of Mother Earth. There were representatives from Votua, Ba, Sigatoka, Namosi, Naitasiri, Navua, Yaqeta [Yasawa] Dawasamu [Tailevu], Vunidogoloa, and Vunisavisavi in Cakaudrove that came together for the workshop. Participants unite to give a voice and put into strategic actions what can be done at our local level.

We came up with our Statement to our Government, Traditional Leaders and respective communities of what we should and can do together here in Fiji.

We are grateful that were provided a platform for our people to speak up on issues affecting us and share our aspirations to our leaders and those in authority.

"We should be Locally Engaged while Globally Connected."
