Saturday, June 4th, 2022.
They came in numbers – male and female! On a beautiful Suva June day, 11 students from Ratu Mara Hostel, Marist Brothers High School arrived at the Formation house before we had time to have breakfast. They sat and watched a video about the Columban missionaries while we got ready. The next surprise was when some FNU students arrived, among them five young women!
We quickly adapted our program. We introduced the young ladies to Kata Mukai, our lay mission coordinator so that she could explain the lay mission program to them. They rejoined us for meals, mission videos and for the social at the end.
Our Columban students shared their experience of discerning their vocation, the formation program, and spiritual year. Fr Martin Koroiciri, home on holidays, spoke about his mission experience in Chile. We were blessed by the support of our Columban Companions, Selina and Joana from Raiwaqa parish who cooked a very tasty chicken curry for our lunch.
Much was learned about Columban mission and new friendships were formed. Everyone enjoyed the day and we look forward to another Come and See towards the end of July.
