Fr Amini Leaves for Peru

May 25th, 2022,

Today Fr Aminiasi Ravuwai leaves Fiji for Peru. Ordained on the 22nd December 2020. But due to the outbreak of Covid and the restrictions on movement and travels in 2021 for almost a year and a half, he was unable to take up his missionary appointment until now. During this time, he was not idle. He helped in his own parish – St Dom Bosco’s (Narere, Makoi) as well doing supplies in other Suva parishes. Most of his time was spent in Holy Family, Labasa, where he was loved and did great work there and especially in the rural communities.

On Sunday night last 22nd , He was farewelled by members of his Columban family at their community night in Nasese.

Where he thanked everyone for their support to him along the road to Priesthood and since his Ordination.

Today, he was farewelled by the staff at Central House before departing Suva, accompanied by his brothers.

He will be no stranger to Lima and Peru since he did his FMA (1st Missionary Assignment) in Peru. So, he will be familiar with the culture and language there. Of course, Fr Iowane Guibau is also awaiting his return. Fr Napa Tavo, is due back to Peru as soon as the Tongan Boarders open again.

But our picture story shows that there is a huge difference between the lush green and tropical climate of Fiji and that of arid dry and brown landscapes of Lima.

Fr Amini God Speed and may Christ use you to bring His Love to all you encounter on your forthcoming Missionary Journey in Peru.
