Fr Pat Visanti has written to the Manager, Staff and students of Xavier College, Ba, to thank them for the monetary gift they gave him last year after their Advent class-by-class collection. With it, he bought 80 large plastic bags for the students in his village school. These children are from very poor families and most of them use plastic bags to carry their school books to and from school. Fr Pat chose to make the distribution yesterday (All Saints Day, Nov 1st 2023) and describes that as being a very appropriate day to show ‘holiness in practice’. He wants the students in Fiji to know that their Pakistani younger brothers and sisters appreciate very much their generosity and kindness.
According to the Xavier Manager, Mrs Margie Muller, the College has already readied its tin cans for another Advent Collection to go to the needs of Fr Pat’s parish and school in Pakistan. Thank you Xavier for this gesture to a Fijian missionary and his people. Fr Pat’s sister and family live in the canefields of Ba, and the whole Rotuman community of the West are very proud of their son and brother ministering in this difficult vineyard of mission.
