Tuesday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time
Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like?
To what can I compare it?
It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden.
When it was fully grown, it became a large bush
and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.”
Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?
It is like yeast that a woman took
and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour
until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”
Jesus always compares the Kingdom to something small which then grows into something big and life-giving, slowly but surely. We usually prefer something big and noticeable from the very beginning. Small changes in life can lead to something greater in due course.
For Jesus, a small beginning is sufficient.
Heavenly Father, You are our God.
We thank you for Your goodness and mercy.
Help us to recognise your presence among us.
You are the yeast of life. Help us to believe in your word and to be open to the change you desire of us.
We are here to serve you and bring glory to you.
In Jesus name, we pray,
Amen.
