University Student Retreat

23 students and one employee of the Fiji National University participated in a retreat day led by Fr Frank Hoare at the Nazareth Prayer Centre at Wailekutu near Suva on Saturday 18th June 2022. The student came from four different campuses – Nasinu, Koronivia, Samabula and Tamavua.

The participants introduced themselves and had an opportunity to quickly interact with 12 others. There were talks on Jesus Christ – Word of God and Savior of Humankind, Christian Family Relationships, and Sexuality.
There were quiet periods for prayer, reflection and bible reading. The rosary was said in small groups walking around the beautiful grounds. They experienced Sacred Reading as a form of meditation and shared in small groups on the gospel of Sunday. The day finished fittingly with the Eucharist in the chapel.

Some of their evaluation comments were:

I really loved and appreciated all the talks and bible sharing.

It strengthened my relationship with God.

It’s the first time I was on a retreat and it helped me a lot in my life

I liked sharing Jesus with my colleagues and getting to know Jesus’ blessing on each individual’s life.

It made us experience prayer and bible reading in a different way.

To be honest this was one of the best Saturday’s ever.
