Sts Anne & Joachim - Fr Willie Lee

Let us now glorify the ancestors of our people…the godly whose good deeds have not been forgotten.’

Today, as we celebrate the feasts of Sts. Anne and Joachim, we remember, especially, our own parents, their parents before them and the earlier generation to whom we owe our own existence today. We are who we are not just because of the genetic inheritance we carry, but also because of the environment of faith in which we have been raised.
St Anne (meaning ‘grace’) and Joachim (meaning ‘Yahweh prepares’) provided their daughter, Mary, with a holistic upbringing, evident from her virtuous and selfless lifestyle. Likewise, Jesus’ three impactful years of ministry were backed by the values he had received from the thirty years he had spent under the care, guidance and example of Mary and Joseph.
Let us pray, in a very special way, for all parents, that they may encourage their children to ‘have eyes to see and ears to hear’ the presence of God.
