Trust or Doubt? Choose!
The readings today are about faith in God’s wisdom, healing power and forgiveness.
There are two miracles that take place in the healing of the paralytic in Matthew’s Gospel: the physical healing that allows the paralytic to pick up his mat and walk, and the forgiveness of his sins. Both miracles require God’s healing power. The belief at the time was that paralysis was the outcome of sin, and since the scribes refused to believe that Jesus had the power to forgive sins, the restoration of the paralytic was a clear demonstration of this truth.
No one is excluded from God’s love. All that is needed is faith. Then, as He did for Abraham, He will find us a ‘ram in the thicket’ when the sacrifice is great; He will heal us of the paralysis that limits us in many ways.
God’s faithfulness to His promises has been demonstrated times without number. How long will it take us to trust Him?
