Who needs a doctor?
Many of us avoid doctors, hospitals and medication. Perhaps the illness is the fear of consequences is too great. But when we are really, seriously sick and we know that we can no longer manage, we turn in haste to the doctor and anxiously hope for a positive prognosis. We want to be well and whole and functioning to the best of our ability.
Jesus knows that this is something that we can relate to and uses the analogy in connection with our spiritual life. When we perceive our sins to be little or we are unaffected by them, we fail to see the need for healing. And gradually, we reach a stage when we feel that we are beyond the grace of God. But Jesus turns that idea on its head. He says categorically, “I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” He sees us and he knows us and He is ready to listen, to mingle with us, to be merciful.
All we need to do is to get up, unhesitatingly, like Matthew, and follow him.
Great message from the Marist Convent primary school students today through our dialogue they want to be like St.Mathew leaving his tax collecting and follow Jesus.
Thank you so much students and teachers of Marist Convent primary school Lami for the Great singing and participation in the first Friday Mass.
Great day!
