Igniting Youth Leadership and Action
The St Pius Youth Workshop held on March 9, 2024, at the Raiwaqa Parish Hall was a dynamic and engaging event that kick-started the year for the youths of St Pius Parish. The workshop began slowly but quickly gained momentum as the enthusiastic youths actively participated in the various sessions planned for the day.
The Social Empowerment Workshop aimed to bring together interested youths from the Parish to address important issues and work towards personal and collective growth. The day started with empowering sessions focused on goal-setting and identifying personal values, allowing the youths to reflect on their aspirations and values in life.
The workshop then progressed to a SWOT Analysis, where the youths conducted a reality check on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Through Stakeholder Mapping, the participants realized the proximity of valuable resources and supportive organizations around them that they could leverage for assistance and growth.
After a refreshing morning tea break, the youths formed three teams and identified pressing issues within their youth group that needed to be tackled. They prioritized two critical issues that required immediate attention and action.
In the final session of the day, the teams developed detailed Action Plans for the six identified issues, setting specific time frames for completion. The day was filled with vibrant discussions, presentations and a sense of purpose as the youths worked diligently to address the challenges facing their community.
As the workshop concluded, the participants acknowledged that their small projects were just the beginning, emphasizing the importance of taking action to bring about meaningful change. The day closed with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for the impactful projects that the young people of St Pius Youth will undertake in the future.
Congratulations and well done to the St Pius Youths of Raiwaqa Parish for their dedication, teamwork and commitment to social empowerment and community development. We eagerly look forward to witnessing the positive impact of their initiatives in the days ahead.
