St. Rose of Lima, born in 1586, despite her family’s financial struggles, dedicated her life to prayer and helping the needy. She was surrounded by saints of her time. Her extreme penance led to criticism, but she was canonized in 1675. Jesus teaches us that loving God and our neighbour is the essence of true Christianity. Rose’s life embodies this simplicity and commitment.
