Fr. Charles G. O' Mahony was one of the first group in Fiji. He was born in Kyabram, Victoria, on the 20th November 1918. his father was a school principal. Ann, his mother, died in 1923. The family, three boys and a girl, moved to Geelong. Charlie worked for four years in the Public Taxation Department until one day he found himself thinking, " Why not become a priest?" he joined the Columbans, did spiritual year at philosophy at Essendon 1938-1941 and theology in Omaha. |
From 1961 he served as Regional Bursar, Vocation Director, Office Manager and Regional Director. Places Fr. O' Mahony worked i=at included Xavier College (1960-1966); Raviravi (1969-1972); Yasawa (1972-1973); Vanuakula (1974-1984); Naililili (1986-1989)
Fr. Charles G. O' Mahony died in 1989.
