Fr. Teakare Betero

Fr. Teakare Betero, Columban Missionary priests advice to young man is, "If you're thinking of entering into a religious order as a priest, then make sure you spend time in discernment (awareness of a call to vocation). Don't do your discerning alone or outside of the Church, it's best to pray about it and speak with a religious person who you trust and know well. If a young man thinks he has the call, then he should go to some "Come and See" sessions and find out if the religious life is for them or not. Listen to where the Holy Spirit is leading, do not close your heart to the call."

Fr. Teakare joined the Columbans because of the lack of priests on his island home of Rabi. He was inspired to join the Columbans when Fr. Donal showed up in Rabi and celebrated Mass in the Banaban language.

Archbishop Peter Loy Chong ordained Fr Teakare Betero on Saturday 30th November 2019 on Rabi Island in the midst of his family, relatives, friends brother priests and those who came from all parts of Fiji to witness his ordination to priesthood.

Fr. Teakare Betero is currently working in Manila, Philippines.
