Aim: to bring goodness to our brothers and sisters and peace to others for a more harmonious and inclusive community.
In the month of September 2024, I received an invitation from Dr. Melanie Barbato, the senior lecturer in History of Christianity at Pacific Theological College, who teaches the course World Religions at PRS. Dr. Melanie Barbato had sent me a request to deliver a PowerPoint presentation to the seminarians on the topic of interreligious dialogue relations and the work done here in Suva, including the pilgrimage walk and pictures attached with brief explanations.
The awareness aimed to bring fostering respect, empathy, and mutual understanding among people of different faiths; this presentation outlined the essential concepts of interreligious dialogue, its importance, and its practical applications in promoting peace and cooperation across religious boundaries. Fr. Felisiano introduced the Interreligious Dialogue input at Pacific Regional Seminarians to year four students. He explained thoroughly in reference to NOSTRA AETATE - in our time: a declaration on the relation of the church to non-Christian religions: her relationship to non-Christian religions considering her task to promote unity and love among people and nations. (Pope Paul VI) and FRATELLI TUTTI (fraternity and social friendship) by Pope Francis.
The seminarians were encouraged to engage in dialogue with people of different religions in a spirit of respect and humility, seeking to foster empathy and mutual understanding in their respective communities and beyond.
