I had the opportunity to visit and speak on Interreligious Dialogue to the religious leaders and members of the Hindu Temple in Labasa during their religious festival gathering. The communities / representatives from religious group were very welcoming and shared their insights as how we can hold cultural events that showcase different religious traditions through music, art, and food. This group engaged very actively in listening to Interreligious Dialogue talk to better understand different religious perspectives and practices to strengthen community ties and enhance mutual respect. The group understood that Interfaith dialogue can be used as a tool for peacebuilding, preventing religious conflicts, and fostering unity in diverse societies.
One of the Hindu religious leaders mentioned some practical/collective actions such as Interfaith community service projects, educational programs, awareness on culture and tradition, addressing social issues is very much needed that promote tolerance and understanding.
