Vanua - Na Sigatoka

Our work continuous as now we are in the forefront of defending People and Creation against the deadly threat of Black Sand extraction in the Heart of Sigatoka.

Even though the weather was really quite challenging on Saturday (12/30/22), I managed to make my way down to Sigatoka with Kositatino

who is also the Coordinator of Social and Ecological Justice from Caritas Fiji from the Archdiocese of Fiji.

We have worked together on many Justice issues before and now we are still partners in this work against black sand mining to address Environmental Justice.

We were able to meet the core group to debrief on our last workshop and also work together on community based projects while at the same time plan for our next workshop for the Nadroga province at the 1st week of April,2022 . This also coincide with the World International day for water and specifically the Ocean.

I thank you for the continued support from our Mission office here at Nasese which has a huge role in making our services and role effective.

There is a lot to be done and so far we are on the right track and we are progressing constanly.
