Starting on Genesis, the first book of the written Bible, the year 8 students of Lomary Primary School in Galoa, Serua began to dissect on what God created in the first 6 days of creation.
In those four walls of their year 8 classroom, nestled amidst the quiet embrace of faith and learning, a journey began. Guided by the timeless wisdom of Genesis, the first book of the written Bible, the children embarked on a voyage of discovery, unravelling the mysteries of creation that lay woven within its sacred pages.
With eager minds and open hearts, the children delved into the open discussion, seeking to uncover the deeper truths concealed within its verses.
As they journeyed through from the first day of creation in Genesis, the children marvelled at the unfolding tapestry of creation as each day God created something from nothing. From the formless void, God spoke forth light, separating it from the darkness, and thus began the dance of day and night. With each passing day, new wonders emerged – the expanse of the sky adorned with celestial bodies, the fertile earth teeming with life, the vast oceans teaming with creatures great and small.
Yet, amidst the splendour of creation, the children discerned a deeper message echoing through the ages. They understood that Genesis was not merely a historical account but a profound reflection on the nature of existence itself. In the rhythmic cadence of the six days, they glimpsed the divine order that underpins the cosmos, the intricate balance that sustains all life.
Guided by the Cantiicle of the Sun video and fuelled by their own group discussion with curiosity, the children embarked on a journey of exploration, dissecting each day of creation with meticulous care. They pondered the significance of light and darkness, of sky and sea, of land and vegetation. They marvelled at the diversity of life that teemed across the earth, recognizing in each creature a reflection of God's boundless creativity, realising that their very own surroundings at the school speaks so much of the wonders of creation, the sea, the trees, the mountains and the river.
But perhaps most importantly, as they journeyed through the pages of Genesis, the children reminded themselves that they too were part of God's ongoing work of creation. In the image of their Creator, they were imbued with the power to shape the world around them and to cultivate beauty and goodness wherever they went.
As they reached the culmination of their exploration, the children of Lomary Primary emerged not only with a deeper understanding of the 6 days of creation in Genesis but with a newfound sense of wonder and reverence for the world around them. Inspired by the timeless wisdom of Scripture, they embarked on a journey of stewardship and responsibility, knowing that they too had a role to play in God's ongoing work of creation apart from them being a creation of God to carry out the good message of the care for our common home.
