The Suva Street all boys school identifies values of gratitude and thanksgiving to our Creator while at the same time sadness seeps in because of mankind's treatment of our Mother Earth. This dichotomy encapsulates a poignant paradox of our times, where amidst the appreciation for the gifts bestowed upon us by our Creator, there exists a profound sorrow witnessing the degradation inflicted upon the very planet that sustains us.
Gratitude and thanksgiving are foundational principles deeply rooted in many religious and spiritual traditions. At Marist Brothers Primary School, these values are not merely taught but embodied in the fabric of daily life, fostering a sense of appreciation for the blessings of existence. The recognition of our Creator's benevolence engenders a spirit of humility and reverence, prompting us to express gratitude for the abundance of life's offerings, both big and small.
Yet, amid this gratitude, there arises an undeniable sadness when confronted with the harsh reality of humanity's treatment of the environment. Our Mother Earth, the cradle of all life, suffers under the weight of exploitation, pollution, and disregard. The once-pristine landscapes are marred by deforestation, pollution chokes our rivers and oceans, and species face extinction at an alarming rate. This degradation is not only an assault on the environment but also on our collective future and the well-being of generations to come.
The paradox between gratitude and sadness underscores the complex relationship between humanity and nature. While we express thanksgiving for the Earth's bounty, our actions often betray a lack of appreciation for its fragility. This dissonance challenges us to reconcile our reverence for creation with our role as stewards of the planet.
In the face of this challenge, Marist Brothers Primary instils a sense of responsibility and stewardship among its students. Through education and action, students are empowered to become agents of change, advocating for sustainable practices and environmental conservation. By cultivating a deep sense of respect for the Earth and all its inhabitants, the school endeavours to instil a lasting commitment to preserving the planet for future generations.
In conclusion, the values of gratitude and thanksgiving taught at Marist Brothers Primary are intertwined with a profound sense of sadness at the state of our environment. This paradox serves as a call to action, reminding us of our duty to cherish and protect the precious gift of our Mother Earth. Only through collective effort and unwavering commitment can we hope to heal the wounds inflicted upon the planet and forge a sustainable future for all.
