Mount Saint Mary, the Catholic primary school based in Nadi, is extending a heartfelt plea to the older generation to consider the well-being of their children and grandchildren in light of the deteriorating environment and the urgent need to safeguard Mother Earth.

The school recognizes the importance of preserving the natural world for future generations and is taking proactive steps to instill this ethos in its students. Through initiatives such as tree planting, conservation efforts, and educational campaigns, Mount Saint Mary students are embarking on empowering their community to become stewards of the environment and advocates for sustainable living practices.

Being a school in the city does not mean that Mount Saint Mary should neglect its connection to nature. Despite the urban setting, the school has prioritized honoring the vegetation, flora, and fauna surrounding them. Understanding the significance of nurturing and preserving the environment, the school community has embarked on a mission to integrate greenery into their surroundings.

Recognizing the divine beauty and wisdom in the creation story outlined in the book of Genesis, the school has embraced the opportunity to mirror God's work by planting fruit trees and various plants. By aligning their actions with the spirit of creation as depicted in the Bible, Mount Saint Mary fosters a deeper appreciation for the natural world and instills a sense of responsibility to care for it.

Through this initiative, the school aims to inspire its students and staff to be mindful stewards of the Earth, honouring the legacy of the first six days of creation. By sowing seeds of environmental consciousness and respect for all living beings, Mount Saint Mary seeks to create a harmonious balance between urban life and the abundant gifts of nature. In doing so, they are fulfilling a duty to their children and grandchildren and embodying a testament to the enduring grace and magnificence of God's creation.

By fostering a deep sense of responsibility towards the Earth and its resources, the school is nurturing a generation committed to creating a brighter and greener future for all. Together, let us heed the call of Mount Saint Mary and work towards a world where the legacy we leave behind is one of harmony, abundance, and reverence for God's creation.
