We All Condemn the Past 4 coups in Fiji – No more Coups for Fiji.
No matter the reason - No one should forcefully take leadership from a democratically elected government. Sharing his experiences and views – Mr. Mahendra Chaudary the former prime minister whose government was couped in 2000 and spent 56 days in captivity by Speight and his followers. These are sensitive issue but we must talk about it to resolve it.
Panel 6 – The media - Freedom of Information & Expression and Trade Unions.
This was the only panel where the presenters from the media and the trade union shed their tears as they recall their experiences in the last 16 years of being violated, threatened, abused by the then authorities as they tried to do their work. It was a traumatic experience and are glad to be able to see the days of Media freedom as we are just starting to experience in Fiji.
Demilitarization a way forward for Stability in Fiji ???
As in our Fourth Priority for JPIC Work Globally – Peace and Demilitarization for the world , this is the appropriate for Fiji. A society built on Good relationship (Veiwekani), Trust, Loyalty, Goodwill and Friendship has no need to fear of an enemy. This is what Freedom does.
